Video Poker is a popular game that is able to be gambled on in casinos throughout the globe, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, using a net account. The regulations are very simple and involve the player trying to get the best mixture of cards achievable in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, apart from the interaction with other players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and presses the play button. A 5 card hand will then be "distributed" on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and gamblers will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it’s all or none.

After the enthusiast has chosen which cards he or she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards are needed they will be dealt. The game is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can change from machine to machine, so that experienced gamblers are agile enough to select the most money-making ones every instance.

After the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that might have been won. Further, some styles of the game allow the player an opportunity to increase their profits, in which situation another game is played. There are also differences among specific machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
