Electronic Poker is a favored game that is able to be wagered on in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at your house on your PC, through an Internet connection. The rules are absolutely simple and involve the player attempting to get the best combination of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it is very similar as a classic game of poker, minus the involvement with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker starts when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and presses the play button. A five card hand will be "dealt" on the screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it’s all or none.

After the bettor has selected which cards he wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards will be needed they will be handed out. The round is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.

Normally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that skillful enthusiasts are able to pick the most beneficial machine each instance.

After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Additionally, several styles of the game give the enthusiast a chance to double their winnings, in which case another round is played. There are also variations among individual games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying elements to increase playability.
